Submitting your manuscript
Frontiers of Biogeography now welcomes manuscripts via three submission routes:
[1] the traditional review pathway,
[2] submissions of articles with previous reviews (and author responses) from other journals,
[3] submissions directed to individual members of the newly established “College of Biogeographers” for handling.
Traditional review pathway
This is the primary pathway for new submissions of articles that have not previously been reviewed elsewhere. Submissions are assigned to an associate editor who will obtain at least two peer reviews and then make a recommendation to the chief editors to inform revision/acceptance decisions.
Submission of previously reviewed articles
Fast-track submission processing is available for contributions submitted with prior peer reviews from other journals or web outlets, including papers published on pre-print servers, accompanied by previous qualified reviews through ScholarOne or alternative reviewing schemes (such as PCI, Peerage of Science, etc.). Authors should submit their manuscript together with prior reviews and a point-by-point response letter addressing how the author's submitted manuscript has addressed concerns in previous reviews. The manuscript and author's responses will be evaluated by the Frontiers of Biogeography Editors. If deemed necessary, manuscripts may eventually be sent for external peer review.
College of Biogeographers pathway
To submit a manuscript via the College of Biogeographers pathway, contact a College member listed below for sponsorship. Once a sponsor has been obtained, submit the manuscript via the standard online uploading system, but indicate in your cover letter that the manuscript has been submitted with the sponsorship of the specific College member. Once all files are checked for completeness, the manuscript will be directed to the College member who will directly oversee the review and decision process. Once a manuscript has been recommended for acceptance by a College member, the Frontiers of Biogeography Editors will check to ensure consistency of process before formal acceptance. Then the manuscript will be transferred to formatting.
